Those in power on the left want to stop information so that they are the only ones allowed to spread it. This is how nations become totalitarian and control the populace.
I have grown to expect it now but I am still baffled that those on the left always accuse others of doing exactly what it is that they do themselves. Robert Reich is one of my least favorite people. He is a former Secretary of Labor under the Clinton administration and a frequent contributor to X (Twitter). Never has one government official been wrong on so many major issues. This ‘holier than thou’ extreme leftist despises conservatives with a passion and posted this about fact-checking: Robert Reich on X: “Memo to the media: Fact-checking MAGA lies isn’t “biased.” It’s your job.” / X
Yet, he routinely posts on Twitter outright lies and misinformation with such abandon that his cries that OTHERS spread misinformation are worthy of a Babylon Bee headline. His latest lies and misinformation are that school vouchers are too costly in Arizona and the state has a multi-million dollar shortfall. He has always been against school vouchers as being for the rich people. The man has a real problem with rich envy, but only when the rich people are conservatives.
He posted only hours before the post about fact-checking that “School choice” is one of those things that has an intentionally misleading name. It’s really just defunding public schools and funneling the money to for-profit schools that disproportionately benefit rich kids.”
He goes on to post a piece from the equally far-left folks at ProPublica that claimed: ProPublica on X: “Arizona, the model for voucher programs across the country, has spent so much money paying private schoolers’ tuition that it’s now facing hundreds of millions in budget cuts to critical state programs and projects. https://t.co/dXp9EjhOAb” / X
Very few people will challenge these lies because it takes time and that’s what people like Robert Reich depend on. I can understand this because people are busy with their ordinary lives and human evolution is such that we have been trained to automatically accept what those “in authority” proclaim and that is also the reason titles are bestowed on people. A title elevates them in the eyes of ordinary schleps. In the case of a former Secretary of Labor, he has a title so he must be right.
We live in modern times now and many other so-called leaders like John Kerry who continually lies about global warming have some serious problems with the First Amendment. So does Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, and Tim Walz among hundreds of other blowhards who don’t like that some regular guy like me can fact-check them. The mainstream press certainly won’t, unless they happen to be a Republican and then they put anything said under a microscope.
With the advent of numerous chatbots, we can now research things in hours that would have taken days, weeks, and even longer to do only a few decades ago. The leaders don’t like this and they don’t want it. They want their titles to suffice. Barak Obama said at the DNC anointment of Kamala Harris that it was wrong for people to have a mistrust of government. If Kamala wins we can look forward to a serious drive to stamp out the First Amendment.
But on to Robert Reich’s lies and fallacies. Charter schools in Arizona are booming and have very long waiting lists. Parents can send their children to a school of their choice if they can wait long enough. Mr. Reich says charter schools “disproportionately benefit rich kids”. This is an outright lie because now any kid can go to a charter school and they do NOT have to pay any extra money to do so. The State allocates 90% of what it costs per student in public schools, and the charter schools accept that as payment in full.
If his ‘rich conservative’ envy didn’t blind him with rage against capitalism, he would know that charter schools help the poorer people, the average student, and not rich kids because every kid, rich or poor can attend one without a dime out of their parent’s pockets. Has Robert Reich done the math that he should surely know after having had the esteemed title of Labor Secretary? 90% is LESS than 100%. That means the public schools should be saving 10%! But, not in the math of the left. The expanded ESA program has seen a massive increase in enrollment, from about 12,000 students before the expansion to over 74,000 students currently.
What does this mean? It means that thousands of parents want a choice and they now have that. But control freaks like Robert Reich don’t want parents to have that choice so they have to find a scapegoat and the usual one is “rich kids” which doesn’t even apply here. But many on the left want you to despise the rich because then they can justify taxing the rich even more than they are now. They also falsely claim it costs the state money. Look at the above numbers. From a mere 12,000 kids before to 74,000 now. That is over 60,000 more children getting an education instead of an “Indoct YOU nation” and the left knows this is a threat to government-run schools and the teacher’s unions who donate almost exclusively to Democrats.
They claim it costs the state more money. Hmmm, did they lay off any teachers or administrators? Did they close down any schools? After all, there are 60,000 fewer students in the public schools. Nope. It is business as usual and not reducing staff substantially. Only a private capitalistic enterprise would have to do that. Only the government can do these things and get away with it because they have these people “in authority” who don’t know what the hell they are talking about but the public believes them because they have a title and our mainstream press is filled with activists and not researchers and real reporters with hardly any of them having any training at all in journalism. This is what we are dealing with today. Be aware.
